Author and historical researcher, Destiny Kinal, will be at Riverow Bookshop in Owego on Sunday, Nov. 26, to read from the second book in her Textile Trilogy, Linen Shroud. The event, from 1 to 3 p.m., will also include a discussion and book signing.
Linen Shroud, which follows Kinal’s award-winning Burning Silk, picks up the story of two families, one Native American, the other French Huguenot.
The tale illustrates how their approach to problems is very similar to our own today.
This against the backdrop, according to Kirkus Indie Review, of “a thriving silk business, a linen concern, as well as a foothold in opium and tobacco production…. The author’s knowledge of the silk and linen trades remains notable.”
