Candor to host ‘Go Solar’ event

Candor Forward is hosting a “Come Learn about Community Solar” event on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Candor Fire Hall located at 74 Owego Rd.

The speaker is Annalise Kukor, from Cornell Cooperative Extension (Tompkins County). She will talk about opportunities to “go solar” for renters and homeowners who cannot or have not put solar on their roofs.

Community solar brings solar-produced electricity to everyone who pays a utility bill. You get a portion of the solar energy produced by the solar farm, which is credited seamlessly to your utility bill each month. Kukor will describe the different ways to do that.

“Even if you live in the deep woods, there are great opportunities to run your home or farm on clean, abundant, solar energy,” says Dave Astorina, chairman of the Candor Forward group.

Refreshments will provided, including local wines and cheeses, and there will be chances to win gift certificates from local vendors.
