November computer classes offered in Owego

The Tioga Adult Learning Lab (T.A.L.L.) has announced registrations are still being accepted for the following computer classes in November 2017

“Basics of Microsoft Windows 7, Word & Excel” begins on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and meets twice weekly thereafter for six weeks. This comprehensive class will focus on the use of the Microsoft Windows along with instruction on file management and MS Word, a word-processing software program and MS Excel, a spreadsheet program. 

Also offered during November is “Resume Success”, a workshop for individuals seeking to create or update a resume, on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.; “Social Media – Using Facebook” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.; “Using E-Mail Effectively” on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and “Applying for Jobs Online”, tips on navigating websites and applying for jobs online, on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Open lab sessions from are planned for Nov. 6, 15, 20 and 27 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. During open lab evenings, individuals can use computers to access the Internet, utilize software, and have staff available to answer questions and assist. No pre-registration is necessary for open lab evenings.

All classes will be held at the Owego Free Academy located on Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego, room 105. Students can pre-register by calling the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 778-6406. 

T.A.L.L. serves adult students throughout the Southern Tier and is run by Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties, Inc. in partnership with Tioga County, N.Y.

T.A.L.L. provides instruction in basic computer skills, and offers vocational assistance to those seeking employment. There are no fees for any of the classes or services T.A.L.L. provides.
