TCNN Member Focus: The Boys & Girls Club

Back to school is here and we love this time of year! At the Tioga County Boys & Girls Club we try provide multiple quality programs to benefit our community, ages five to 95. Here (TCBGC) is a glance at our programs, sports and services.

Our Club Positive service is a before and after school program housed in the Owego Elementary Building offering parents a convenient early drop off and evening pick up times. This is open to students age five to 12 and is a New York State certified daycare program. Registrations are available at the TCBGC or by calling (607) 687-0690.

Another option for students is to ride the bus down to our Club location where after school supervision is provided to our youth with positive community role models. Daily activities include snack, homework assistance, open gym as well as weekly scheduled programming such as Smart Girls, Stem Stars, Kids in the Kitchen, an Arts and Craft Club, etc. Our staff engages with the youth and parents alike to help kids in reaching their full potential.

Additionally we partner with local community resources to provide our kids with back to school clothing and supply donations. We also offer a sight for students program for members who need assistance with glasses.

Looking to get your child involved in positive social interactions through sports programs? We are here to help! In the fall we offer a variety of possibilities, which have included Field Hockey, Cheerleading, Pee Wee Basketball, Recreational Basketball, and many more. Flyers with full details are sent home from schools and participants are welcome from across Tioga County.

We also offer adult programs and sports outside our youth hours and activities. This includes daily morning Pickleball and pick up Basketball, local weight room and sauna space, evening winter basketball leagues, yoga and volleyball nights.

Tioga County nonprofits work together to fill the gaps; at the TCBGC this means providing a safe space to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring adults; life-enhancing programs with focus on character and social development; and hope and opportunity.

Please feel free to call us at (607) 687-0690, or follow us on Facebook.
