An opposition to the democrat socialist plan for free tuition

Dear Editor,

I have previously written about my opposition to the democrat socialist plan for free tuition. Turns out my concerns should not have been that much as recent news reporting has suggested not a lot of students are taking advantage of it. In my conversations with several students who could have enrolled in it, the single reason they did not is the commitment required to live and work in New York for the same amount of years they received the free tuition.

They realize that according to CNBCs most recent study, New York ranks as the #2 most expensive state to live in. They realize according to Kiplinger 2016 study, New York is the #1 most expensive state to retire in, meaning their parents and relatives may leave when they retire. They realize, according to the 2016 Census, New York’s population decreased by slightly less than 1 million people, thus decreasing the tax base by this many people.

And yet despite these facts our socialist leaders, such as Schumer and Cuomo, continue their socialist programs, heavily taxing us and then sprinkling back funds and grants to try and make us feel like they support us. Remember every grant, fund, and less than successful IDA programs, is our money being redistributed back as they see fit.

But what truly bothers me the most is the complete lack of desire for any type of change. Schumer has continually fought any program the Trump administration has tried. His recent comments on Trump’s proposed tax plan slightly increasing rates for lower income people purposely ignores many don’t pay any taxes at all, and if they do their standard deduction is proposed to be doubled, meaning this will increase the number of people who pay no income at all. This is one of the countless examples of just plain obstructing any thing new.

Cuomo has continued to say he will fight any measures to allow changes to Obamacare and required mandates, which means it wont be long before NY will be on the top of some list as the most expensive health insurance state to live in.

Another aspect of Trump’s proposed tax plan is doubling the standard deduction and eliminating the deduction for state and local taxes. Of course the opposition to this will come from the most highly taxed states, generally democratic socialist run states.

I express no opinion or comment on the Trump tax plan proposal, but if you were Schumer or Cuomo, wouldn’t it be completely embarrassing to make the fight because you are the leadership that has created this high state tax problem? Both of these illustrious pompous donkeys should learn the saying, “If you are not part of the answer then you are part of the problem.”

I challenge Schumer, Cuomo, or any of you socialists to give a good fact based explanation to the facts presented in paragraph #2 in this letter.

Sincerely,

Rance Brode

Owego, N.Y.
