Church to hold celebration

The First Presbyterian Union Church, located at North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego.

The First Presbyterian Union Church, located at North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego, was funded in 1817. Since this year marks its 200th anniversary, several guest ministers will be helping the congregation to celebrate on Sunday, Sept. 24. 

Rev. Parrish L. Bridges will be preaching and singing with his wife, Pamela D. Bridges. Rev. Bridges served the First Presbyterian Union Church for 11 years before moving to California in 2016 and beginning to serve the Mira Mesa Presbyterian Church in San Diego. 

Rev. Bridges’ daughter, Ashleigh, lives in Elmira, and his son, Parrish M, is a student at Mansfield University. 

The Rev. Lisa Heckman currently serves the First Presbyterian Union Church as the Interim Pastor.
