The Church of Christ Christian Union, better known as the Gospel Chapel located at 203 North Ave. in Owego, N.Y., recently welcomed a new Senior Pastor, Andy Fey, at an installation service on Aug. 20. Senior Pastor Loretta Perry has retired after decades of service to the church and community.
Gospel Chapel, nestled between Weaver Automotive and a private home, dates back to the early 1970’s and saw two pastors during its early years, prior to Perry’s arrival in 1978. Perry relocated to Cortland, N.Y. for about nine years, but then returned to Owego.

For Andy Fey, he described an instant connection and network to the Owego community. Fey, who lived in Owego from 2008 through 2013, had previously ministered as a youth pastor at the Nazarene Church. He and his wife Angela moved to Maryland for three and one-half years, and then relocated back to Owego in March.
Fey, originally from Allentown, Pa. shared, “It feels like an exciting time to be at Gospel Chapel,” adding, “Owego is the first place my wife and I lived after marriage, and as a couple it has always felt like home to us.” Angela grew up in the Boston, Mass. area.
The Fey’s are excited for their children to grow up in the area as well; their son will start kindergarten at Owego Elementary School in September, and they also have a two-and-one-half year old daughter at home.

Fey described his calling back to Owego as, “The word gospel means good news. I believe that God has uniquely positioned the Gospel Chapel in our community to minister to people who need to hear good news! We don’t need to look very far to see bad news, but the good news of Jesus Christ offers hope and peace to a world that needs it.”
The Gospel Chapel board, along with Senior Pastor Andy Fey, welcomes the community to their services. Sunday School is held at 9:30 a.m. followed by Worship Services at 10:30 a.m.
