After welcoming bikers and guests to a performance last week by Woodshed Prophets, Bike Night in Owego is gearing up for a return of Whey Jennings on Aug. 23.

Jennings, the grandson of the legendary Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, who were both extremely successful as country artists for decades, is returning to Bike Night in Owego for an Aug. 23 performance with his band – Whey Jennings and The Unwanted. Hummel’s Mug will open at 6 p.m., followed by a performance by Jennings.

Whey has always had a passion for music. He first stepped on stage as a boy and sang “Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up” at his grandpa’s concert. From that point on, his passion for music was evident.

Whey is part of The Unwanted, and members include Jack Steven Dempsey (bass), Danny Thompson (lead guitarist), Coleby Thompson (rhythm) and Larry Sanders (drums).

The band’s hometown is Grand Prairie, Texas, and their genre is straight shootin’ country. Their influences are known to be Whey’s grandpa, Jamey Johnson, and many more.

Whey and The Unwanted performed last year at Bike Night and wanted to come back and entertain all the new fans and friends they made. You can catch them on Aug. 23 at Bike Night in Owego.

Bike Night is presented by Allstate Insurance Lounsbury Agency, and sponsored by area businesses to include The Owego Pennysaver, Upstate Shredding, LaBella Rae Bridal and the New York Tanning Spa, The Haircolor Café, Armstrong Music House, Southern Tier Harley Davidson, and several area businesses that have supported through donations to the event.
