Tioga County Department of Social Services recently announced that Bernadette Poppert had been named Employee of the Second Quarter 2017.
Poppert has been a caseworker in Tioga County for ten years, and prior to that she was a caseworker in Otsego County. Poppert officially joined the Adult / Adolescent Services Unit full time in April of 2017. Prior to that date, Poppert split her time between the Adult / Adolescent Unit and a CPS / Preventive Unit, carrying a caseload in both areas for approximately one year.
According to a release from DSS, Poppert quickly adapted to her new role in working with adults and is diligent in familiarizing herself with the policies and procedures that are pertinent to her new position.
The release stated, “Bernadette reflects the values of the Agency. Bernadette conveys a professional demeanor and is an eager learner. She remains calm when things get hectic and uses her sense of humor to get through stressful situations. She is flexible and willing to adjust her schedule to meet the needs of the agency and her clients. Bernadette will often go above and beyond to assist the clients with whom she is working. She has an uncanny ability to talk people through their current situations with empathy and respect. Bernadette is willing to provide assistance to the other staff whenever needed whether it be in the form of follow up phone calls or a home visit to check on a client.”
DSS concluded that Poppert is an asset to the Adult / Adolescent Services Unit and is a worthy recipient of this recognition.
