Grassanova to perform for Depot Friday Night in Newark Valley

On June 23, the Depot is proud to welcome back Tom Quigley and his band, Grassanova, for a concert at the Depot in Newark Valley at 7 p.m. and as part of the Depot Friday Night Series. Grassanova will perform traditional bluegrass music along with popular songs in bluegrass / newgrass style along with a bit of swing, blues and early jazz.

The band members of Grassanova hale from the rolling hills of central New York and have been pumping out bluegrass for many years in venues all around New York State. Tom and his band have played at the Depot more than any other musical group and they are excited to keep this tradition going.

Daphne’ Braden will be performing at the Depot on June 30. Daphne has been a popular singer in New York’s Southern Tier since 1997. She offers vocals with guitar accompaniment for a wide variety of musical styles, from pop and rock, to Jazz, blues, country and classical hits. Daphne’ creates a fun “variety show” atmosphere, with sing-alongs and props for audience participation.

On July 7 the Little Big Band led by Bruce Dedrick returns to the Depot for the third year. The Little Big Band will entertain with the sound of big band swing, doo-wop, rock and roll and pop music. Their musical repertoire is extensive and versatile. The band consists of six musicians that have performed all over the Tri-State area, bringing their big band sound to clubs, private affairs and festivals, as well as concerts.

If the weather permits the concert will be outside on the Depot lawn, so bring a chair with you. Depot doors open at 6 p.m. and the music begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments are available.

The Depot is located on Depot Street in Newark Valley. For more information, visit the Newark Valley Historical website at www.nvhistory.org,
