SUEZ and the New York Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) have announced that a $3,000 scholarship will go to Gary King of Owego Free Academy.

The scholarship is designed to assist high school seniors who will pursue degrees related to the water industry and the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The winners were honored at an awards dinner at the Hotel Thayer in West Point.

“We know that it’s critically important to support bright, hard-working young people who will serve as the future leaders of the water industry,” said Chris Graziano, vice president of SUEZ operations in New York. “This program helps students gain the resources they need to pursue higher education in STEM-related fields. We are very pleased to provide these scholarships and would like to congratulate Gary on his accomplishments thus far. We know the future looks bright for him.”

King attends Owego Free Academy where he is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also on the soccer team, the tennis team, the concert band and the All State Choir. His goal is to develop cleaner sources of water and energy in under-developed countries.

King will be attending SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry where he will be majoring in Environmental Engineering.
