Candor Talk to celebrate women’s rights

The Candor Historical Society’s May 31 talk at the Candor Town Hall will focus on the celebration of the 100 year anniversary of New York State women winning the right to vote for the first time in history.

Tioga County Historian Emma Sedore’s talk will include highlights of this chapter in Tioga County’s history, as well as share some of the celebratory events the County and Towns are planning.

Sedore stated, “We are hoping that the public clearly understands that this big thank-you celebration (across the entire state) is to the women who enabled us to vote for the first time in 1917, and we invite everyone to join us.”

The talk is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Candor Town Hall. The Candor Historical Society’s meetings are always free and open to the public, and refreshments are always on the table.

Note: Candor Historical Society’s participation in New York State’s celebration will include their 4th of July Float depicting heroes.
