Helping fight cancer

Dear Editor,

What a day April 2 was in Candor. We had 64 participants in our 2nd Annual St. Baldrick’s 5K Run/Walk and 57 shavees who became bald to stand in solidarity with kids with cancer. Together, along with the sponsors, donations, raffles and food purchases, we have raised more than $48,000 for childhood cancer research.

The event organizers would like to thank everyone who made this day possible to include all the runners, walkers and shavees; all the business and individual who donated money, raffles, food and their time to the event.  The success of the event couldn’t happen without all the generous people we have in the Southern Tier.

Thanks goes to the Candor High School and staff for allowing us to use the school for our event and the Candor Emergency Squad for the use of their community room.  The following businesses and individuals who were event sponsors, 5K sponsors, donated raffle items and food include WEBO Radio; Tioga Downs; the Candor American Legion Auxiliary; Angela Doucett; Becky’s Hair Studio; Billion Berry Farm; Candor Elementary School teachers, staff and students; candorcommunitycalendar.info; the Candor Chronicle; Cardinal Café; Chuckster’s Family Fun Center; Dandy Mini Marts, Inc.; D-Crete; D.
