Tioga Downs to host two career-building events

Seeking to enable people from the local community to grow their careers, Tioga Downs will be hosting two career-building events – the New York State Security Guard Training and a free Dealer Training Program.

On Friday, April 7, Tioga Downs will host the New York State Security Guard Training. The training will take eight hours to complete, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will be held at 139 Roki Boulevard in Nichols, N.Y.

The cost for participants is $100, but after completion of three months of employment as a security guard at Tioga Downs Casino, participants will be eligible for reimbursement for all New York State Security Guard license fees, a $250 value.

Those interested in participating in this program should contact John Mele at jmele@tiogadowns.com

With the next training set to begin in late April or early May, Tioga Downs will once again be hosting a free Dealer Training Program. This program will run for eight weeks with the option of day or night classes lasting for four hours.

More information about the program can be found at www.tiogadowns.com/interest. The firm dates of the program will be announced in the very near future.

“As we continue to expand, we look forward to bringing opportunities such as these career training programs to the region. We have a great workforce right here in the Southern Tier and we are grateful that the casino license has enabled us to provide even more great paying jobs and new opportunities for so many,” said Scott Freeman, president of Tioga Downs.
