Updated: Taxpayer’s First Party candidates earn seats in village election

At 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, it was announced that the Taxpayer’s First Party candidates made a clean sweep in the village election, with the party’s members filling the three available trustee seats on the village board.

With 2,166 registered voters in the Village of Owego, 384 ballots and 30 absentee ballots were cast on Tuesday with the results as follows: Phoebe Morris, with the Oak Tree Party, and running to retain her seat representing Ward 1, had 192 votes; Michael Barratta, also with the Oak Tree Party, and running against Rob Manville, had 182 votes; while Taxpayer’s First Party candidates Rob Manville had 218 votes; Ken Hanson had 212, defeating Morris; and Nick Ruiz, who ran unopposed, had 273.

In Waverly, trustee Patrick Ayres ran unopposed for Mayor, thus earning the seat.

Also, in Waverly, Charlie Havens and Eric Reznicek earned trustee seats with 275 votes and 198 votes, respectively; and Jerry Sinsabaugh, incumbent, had 234 votes. Ronald Keene and Christopher Brewster had 174 votes and 196 votes, respectively.

Also, Richard Gorman defeated John Sobol for the justice seat, with 221 votes for Gorman, and 167 votes for Sobol.
