Presentation on avoiding ticks and keeping your pets safe in the garden to be presented in Owego

On March 15, at 6:30 p.m., Barb Neal, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Tioga horticulture educator, will present on avoiding ticks, and keeping your pets safe in the garden. The presentation will take place at the CCE offices located at 56 Main St. in Owego.

Gardening is a healthy activity that is good for our physical and mental health.  However, there are a few risks in gardening, chief among them is the prospect of getting a tick bite.

If you know anyone who has come down with Lyme’s Disease, you know how strongly the disease can affect someone. During this presentation, guests will learn about ticks, the diseases they can cause, and how to limit your exposure to ticks while working in the garden. In addition, Neal will talk about pet safe gardening; know the plants that can cause your pet to get sick if eaten.
