‘Seed Saving for the Survival of Humanity and the Planet’ to be presented on March 16

On March 16, at 7 p.m., Lisa Bloodnick will present “Seed Saving for the Survival of Humanity and the Planet” at Tioga County’s Hubbard Auditorium located on the second floor at 56 Main St. in Owego.

In a press release, the organizers of the presentation stated, “Seeds are our history and our future. They carry a message of resilience and hope as our food systems face critical threats posed by the industrial agriculture system, multinational corporations, and globalization. Seed saving is a revolutionary act through which we reclaim our sovereignty.”

Bloodnick will discuss how an act as simple as seed saving addresses social, political, and environmental issues. Learn about efforts to save our seed history from threats posed by war and climate change.

Lisa and Brendan Bloodnick own Bloodnick Family Farm in Apalachin, N.Y. They sell sustainably raised produce at the Vestal Farmers Market and through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program). The Bloodnick’s are also celebrating their 25th year of growing food.

This presentation is sponsored by the Sierra Club Susquehanna Group Tioga County Task Force and RAFT (Residents Allied for the Future of Tioga). For more information, contact Erin Riddle by email to riddleriddle@gmail.com, or by calling or texting (607) 372-5503.
