Last September, The Owego Rotary Club donated time, effort, and expense into building five raised vegetable beds for fresh produce for the food pantry at Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center and the summer lunch program.
Kevin Millar, Rotary member, donated over 100 garlic bulbs; Michelle Bidwell, a volunteer from Cornell and Laurie Ellis, of Catholic Charities, planted the garlic to grow for this year’s harvest.
Recently, Brian Eldridge, Rotary member, delivered a $300 gift card from Rotary to purchase vegetable plants to complete the gardens. These beds will help address hunger insecurity in the area.
