The Evergreen Cemetery Commission will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church located at 261 Main St. in Owego, N.Y. (next door to the Coburn Library).
The commission is working to find solutions regarding concerns they have about the cemetery and are asking interested parties to attend or write a letter of support to the commission, if they are unable to attend.
According to a message received from the commission, any concerns about the cemetery will be on the record and forwarded to the Village Board.

I urge those responsible to address the deterioration at Evergreen Cemetery immediately. To have allowed this to reach this point is an inexcusable travesty. It is first and foremost a historic site, a grant was procured to contribute to its restoration, and it is disrespectful and shameful to all who are buried there, as well all to those of us whose families have been laid to rest there. In my family, that goes back into the 1800’s.
