Riveredge is hosting holiday pet drive

Riveredge Kennels in Owego is hosting a holiday pet drive for animals housed in shelters. The drive has been dubbed, “Santa Paws for a Cause.”

As we approach the holidays and the spirit of sharing joy and happiness with others, let’s not forget the thousands of animals that remain homeless this holiday season.

Thanks to the heroes at the animal shelters, these pets will be loved and cared for – but they can’t do it alone.

You can be Santa to a forgotten dog or cat this holiday season by dropping off a donation in the pet drive bins at Riveredge Boarding and Grooming, located at 105 Southside Dr. in Owego, during regular business hours of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

They will collect and distribute all donations to Stray Haven in Waverly, and to the Broome County animal shelter.

Items needed include beds for small dogs and cats, as well as beds for the larger and older dogs. They need cleaning supplies such as paper towels and bleach; food, to include Pedigree for dogs and Purina for cats; and peanut butter and Cheez Wiz to administer medications.

The collection will take place through Dec. 19. For more information, you can call Riveredge at (607) 687-5549.
