On Oct. 27, Owego resident Kim McHenry held a house-warming party at her new apartment. But instead of asking for gifts, McHenry requested that guests bring activities for residents at the local nursing home in Owego, Riverview Manor.

McHenry had received help from the nursing home during a recent illness, and wanted to pay them back.

“Instead of gifts for my home, I wanted activities for the nursing home,” said McHenry.

On Oct. 28, McHenry delivered the gifts to the home, and was met with assistance by Debbie Savich, activity director, and JoAnne Dimon, a resident at the home.

Collected were word search books, coloring books, fun foam stickers, puzzles, and a variety of crafts.

According to Savich, the nursing home is always looking for recreational supplies for its residents. You can contact her by calling (607) 687-2594, or by email to dsavich@riverviewmanorrehab.com

Savich is grateful for the donations, and McHenry was thankful for her friends from around the region that brought the items.

Donors included Guy Leach, Janet Niedopytalski, Kay Ellis, Lynne Esquivel, Mary Johnson, Billie Taylor, Christine Stica, Amanda Zimmer-Welch, Shirley Callahan, Cody Morrison, and Dacia Legge.
