Local resident sends in photo from Washington trip

From left, Sue Bundy Tripp, former Senator Bob Dole, and K.C. Tripp pose for a photo on Oct. 8 in Washington, D.C. The Tripp’s, from Apalachin, N.Y., were in Virginia visiting family over the Columbus Day weekend on an annual occasion they call “Tripptober Fest,” when they decided to go on a D.C. tour.  After a stop at the Lincoln Memorial, the Tripp’s walked to the World War II Memorial, and call it being in the right-place-at-the-right-time, they had the opportunity to meet Senator Dole, now age 93 and a WWII veteran.

Dole is a regular Saturday visitor at the memorial, and can be found welcoming veterans, including those who travel on Honor Flights. A wet day for the Tripp’s tour due to Hurricane Matthew, Sue commented, “It was an honor to met the former Senator Dole. He is a great patriot and always supports the veterans.”
