Benefit planned to help Endwell resident with medical bills

A benefit is planned for Endwell resident, Jenny Ryan, and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Gym, located at 701 W. Main St. in Endicott, N.Y.

Forty-three year old Ryan, who is originally from Apalachin, N.Y., underwent emergency gall bladder removal surgery at a local hospital on Feb. 29, 2016. During the procedure, her bile duct was damaged. After three failed attempts to repair the issue, Jenny was transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

Shortly after arriving in Rochester, Jenny experienced sepsis, a life-threatening situation. In her case, bile leaked into her body, which caused infection and organ failure. Jenny spent quite some time in intensive care, where she was in a medically induced coma.

Jenny has had multiple surgeries, blood transfusions and kidney dialysis and still has a challenge ahead with extensive medical treatment.
