Tioga County CROP Hunger Walk planned for October 16Participants prepare to participate in a CROP Hunger Walk.

Join the Tioga County CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, Oct. 16. They begin at St. Patrick’s Church located at 300 Main St. in Owego with registration from 1:30 to 2 p.m.

They will be stepping off at 2 p.m. on a 4-mile route, or optional 1-mile route to be inclusive, and will end at the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St., with refreshments and time for reflection and fellowship.

The Tioga County CROP Hunger Walk is a countywide event sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world. In fact, that’s what CROP stands for – Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.

The CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and clean water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools to wells and water systems, the key is people working together to raise funds to fight hunger here in Tioga County and around the world.

That’s the sort of life-changing work you support when you participate in a CROP Hunger Walk. So be a walker and pledge your support. You can register online at www.crophungerwalk.org/owegony or you can register on the day of the walk at St. Patrick’s Church from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
