TCHS Museum to host Cemetery Walk at Evergreen Cemetery

Spirits will come alive at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Tioga County Historical Society (TCHS) will host the fifth annual cemetery walk, telling the stories of people from this area’s past and the history of Evergreen Cemetery.

Tours meet at the museum at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. This unique tour will include living history re-enactors portraying members of the county’s past. Tours will last between 45 minutes and one hour each.

Guests will meet inside the TCHS Museum at 110 Front St. before boarding a bus that will transport them to the cemetery. Guests can meet Rikki Springsteed, who is compiling a history of Evergreen Cemetery, and browse the museum’s exhibits before and after the tour.

Be prepared for the weather, as the tour will continue rain or shine. Good walking shoes are a must. Reservations for this event are encouraged due to the popularity of this event. This event is not intended to be frightening and all ages are welcome.

The cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and older, $8 for museum members, and children 12 and under are admitted free.

Reservations can be made at the TCHS Museum by calling (607) 687-2460 and will be accepted until Sept. 23. All sales are final and there will be no refunds. Tickets will be available the day of the event at the TCHS Museum.
