State Police locate missing girls, Vestal woman was arrested for Kidnapping 2nd

On April 27, 2015, KyLea Fortner and her sister Shaeleen Fitch-Fortner were reported as teen runaways to the New York State Police in Binghamton, N.Y.

Following an almost 11 month investigation, the New York State Police and the Vestal Police Department located the teens at 327 Torrance Ave., Vestal, N.Y. Both teenaged girls were turned over to the Broome County Family Services.

During this investigation, the New York State Police received and investigated numerous investigative leads relative to the girl’s location.

As a result of this investigation, information was developed which indicated KyLea Fortner and her sister Shaeleen Fitch-Fortner were present at a residence located at 327 Torrance Ave., Vestal, N.Y.

On March 10, 2016, the New York State Police, working in conjunction with the Broome County District Attorney’s office, arrested Amanda Hellman, 29, of 327 Torrance Ave., Vestal, N.Y. for Kidnaping 2nd Degree, a class B felony. Amanda Hellman, who is a family acquaintance of the victims, was arraigned before Town of Vestal Justice Joseph B. Meagher and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

The New York State Police were assisted in this investigation by the Vestal Police Department, the Endicott Police Department and the Broome County District Attorney’s office.
