Catholic Charities Tompkins / Tioga is pleased to announce that Catholic Charities USA through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has granted funding to continue the Youth Engagement Services (YES) Mentoring Program. YES Mentoring matches children and youth between the ages of nine and 17 with an individual mentor. Previously, YES Mentoring was only available to youth in Tioga County, but with this grant, the program will eventually be expanded into Tompkins County.
Currently, a number of youth are waiting to be matched with a mentor. Mentors must be at least 18 years of age, have reliable transportation, and pass a background check. All mentors must participate in training before being matched. Once matched, mentors agree to meet with their youth weekly.
