The Owego Apalachin Foundation for Excellence in Education Music Festival on Sept. 27, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Hickories Park in Owego. This is a family friendly event featuring local bands Triple Down, Ultra Vibe, Making The Band (MTB), Mallory Evans & Friends, and The Falconers. There will also be food for purchase provided by Gance’s catering. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and age five years and under are free.
All Proceeds go to the OA Foundation.
The Foundation is a nonprofit community organization that provides educational grants for innovative programs benefiting children in our area. They also provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Owego Free Academy (OFA).
Last year, the local chapter of Dollars for Scholars folded. Along with giving their own grants and scholarships, the Foundation was able to help Dollars for Scholars in their last year of giving by administering 17 additional scholarships to local students. In 2015 the Foundation gave out 13 scholarships. They would love to fill the loss of Dollars for Scholars by funding even more scholarships in the years to come.
