Dear Editor,
As a Berkshire resident and member of the Fire Department I feel I must apologize to the wonderful ladies who conducted voting on Tuesday at the New Berkshire Fire Station.
Apparently a Chicken Dinner trumps our right to vote in a comfortable safe environment. The conditions these ladies were subjected to were totally uncalled for.
There was no heat in the truck bays where they had to work and the diesel exhaust smell was overwhelming when I entered the polling place. The voting booths were crowded together and not easy to get to.
I am sure there was no political talk at the Chicken Dinner on the other side of the wall.
Again, a big thank you to the ladies who make it a pleasure to vote, despite the conditions they endured.
