On Saturday, Nov. 8, storefronts will be decorated and entertainment will fill the streets as the Historic Owego Marketplace (HOM) presents their annual Holiday Showcase from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in historic downtown Owego.

Start your shopping experience with the arrival of Santa, and then enjoy music and entertainment along the way. Shop while you listen to strolling musicians, or take a horse and carriage ride through the Village.

You can also have a visit with Santa, and there will be plenty of activities for children.

The event will kickoff at 10 a.m. with an art show hosted by artists at Artisan’s Townhouse, located at 42 Lake St. in Owego.

At Katie’s Kreations, located at 194 Front St., a food drive for Rural Ministries will take place.

At the Tioga County Historical Society and Museum on Front Street, and near Draper Park, the O’Tannnebaum Christmas Tree display will delight guests while raising money for the museum.

On the lawn at M&T Bank, located on the corner of Lake and Front Street, there will be a puppet show, cookies, and giveaways sponsored by the Church of Owego.

At 11 a.m., the popular “get framed” mobile photo booth will be providing photos at various locations in Owego’s historic shopping district until 3 p.m.

Sounds of the Season by Rachel Lawler will take place at Tender Loving Care by Maureen located at 7 Lake St., and a harvest soup and bread lunch will take place at the First Baptist Church located at 288 Main St. until 2 p.m.

At 11:15 a.m. Santa will arrive in town on a horse and carriage and will be available for photos at 11:30 a.m. at the Tioga Arts Council located at 179 Front St. until 1 p.m. There will also be horse and carriage rides in front of the John Barleycorn, 216 Front St. until 1:30 p.m.

At noon, caricatures by Jon Ed Bon Fed will take place at Riverow Bookshop, 187 Front St., and Juggler Will Stafford will be performing throughout the downtown district.

Pet paw-traits to benefit Stray Haven will take place at BioLife Solutions located at 171 Front St., and is being sponsored by Prestige, LifeTouch School Portraits.

At 12:30 p.m., the Owego Free Academy Jazz Band Quartet will perform at The Goat Boy located at 175 Front St., and musician Daphne Braden will perform for children at 1 p.m. at the Tioga County Historical Society Museum on Front Street. Harpist Meredith Bocek will also be performing at East of the Sun, West of the Moon located at 206 Front St.

At 2 p.m., there will be a weaving demonstration by Sue Szcotka at Black Cat Gallery located at 190 Front St. followed by a China-painting demonstration by Joyce Stewart at 3 p.m.

Trumpeter Rev. Terry Steenburg will be strolling downtown.

To finish off the evening, a Toast to Tioga wine pull fundraiser will take place at the Tioga Arts Council at 5 p.m. at their 179 Front St. location.
