During Candor’s Fall Festival, The Bread of Life Food Pantry hosted a fundraiser at the Candor Fire Department. The “Kick the Can” competition challenged participants to line up at the start line and kick a can onto the field to achieve the longest yardage kick they could do.
Yard lines were sponsored by local businesses to include Two Hoots, Candor Home Central, Iron Kettle, Tioga State Bank, and Warner Real Estate (Nancy King).
Roger Westgate from the woodcarvers club generously carved and donated the first prize trophies for this competition.
Winners of this year’s competition were as follows.
In the five to eight year old group first place went to five-year-old Ryan Walker, who kicked 29.5 yards; second place went to seven-year-old Mattie Whitmore, with a kick of 28.5 yards; and five year old Summer Austin earned third place with a kick of 27.1 yards.
In the nine to 12 year old group first place went to 12-year-old Camille Brock for a 40.10 yard kick; 12-year-old Michael Tait earned second place with a kick of 37.10 yards; and third place went to nine year old Taylor Brook for a 31.7 yard kick.
In the 13 year old to adult group, first place was awarded to Tim Hill for his kick of 54 yards; second place went to Darrin Brock for a 52.1 yard kick; and third place went to Brad Andres, for a 51.1 yard kick.
The event also ran a 50/50 raffle, with Charles Beaudon being announced the winner.
