Newark Valley man arrested on Felony charges following seizure of marihuana

Criminal Investigators with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office reported on Thursday that they have uncovered and shut down a substantial marihuana growing operation in the Town of Newark Valley, N.Y., which led to the arrest of 45-year old Richard B. Paugh, Jr. on Felony charges.

On Oct. 20, 2014 while attempting to serve an arrest warrant for an individual wanted in Broome County, investigators discovered a marihuana growing and processing operation at a residence located at 1416 Newark Valley Maine Rd.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered more than 100 pounds of marihuana, worth approximately $424,000. Investigators also seized various drug paraphernalia from the residence.

Investigators arrested and took into custody the owner of the residence, Richard B. Paugh, Jr., who was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 1st Degree, a class C Felony and was arraigned before Town of Newark Valley Justice John Schaffer.

Richard B. Paugh, Jr. was committed to the Tioga County Jail with no bail.
