Search of vehicle leads to meth related arrest

Following an investigation of a suspicious vehicle located at the NBT Bank parking lot in the Village of Newark Valley on Sept. 30, 2014, Sheriff Investigators executed a search warrant of the vehicle and recovered several components used for the production of methamphetamine; packaging materials for the distribution of drugs, and; a quantity of heroin.

Darryl R. Leasure, age 40, of 309 Arthur Ave, Endicott, N.Y. was arrested in connection with the investigation. Investigators charged Leasure with Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the Third Degree, a class D Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree with intent to sell, a class B Felony.

Leasure was arraigned before Justice John Schumacher of the Town of Owego Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond.

Leasure is scheduled to appear in front of Justice John Schaffer in the Town of Newark Valley Court at a later date.

Sheriff Road Patrol Deputies, the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team, and the Owego Fire Department and Emergency Squad assisted the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
