On June 25, LaFamilia Motorcycle Club – Owego, was host to an event that raised funds to benefit the Twin Tiers Honor Flights.
The Twin Tiers Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. As part of the national Honor Flight Network, they transport World War II, Korean, Vietnam era veterans to Washington, D.C. in honor of their service so that they can visit and reflect at their memorials.
The June 25 event, held at Marvin Park in Owego, offered biker games, food, prizes, and a ride that raised over $1,000. These funds, according to LaFamilia member Brad Bartholomew, were donated to the Twin Tiers Honor Flights.
Bartholomew noted that generous donations were brought in from the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club, as well as support from Owego’s DPW and the Owego Police Department. The community also supported these efforts.
The donation, according to Bartholomew, was presented to David (Chip) Longabaugh, board member and parade captain for the honor flights.
