The Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation recently awarded grants to promote positive youth development through school and community based volunteer service programs and activities.

Small grants were presented to the Richford Summer Youth Program, the Apalachin Elementary Helping Hands Club, the Tioga County Catholic Social Services YES (Youth Engaged in Service) Program at Newark Valley High School, and the Nichols Community Care Network’s October Make A Difference Day Project.

Representatives of the programs and schools talked about the importance of community service by youth of all ages and received their grants at the Bassett Ah-Wa-Ga Center on May 20 in Owego. This is the 22nd year the Bassett Youth Foundation has funded youth programs in Tioga County.
