Community Dinner planned for October 11 at the Owego Elks Lodge

The Owego Elks Lodge will host their October Community Dinner this Friday, Oct. 11, from 5-6 p.m. They are serving a savory American Goulash filled with tender meat in a hearty sauce. The dinner is accompanied by crusty bread and a refreshing tossed salad. A slice of carrot cake with creamy frosting rounds out your dinner for a sweet finish. Dinners are available for pick-up or dine-in starting at 5 p.m. Friday. 

They invite the community to join them for this dinner. Dinners cost $15 each. They can be pre-ordered by calling the Lodge at (607) 687-1039 by Monday, Oct. 7. Leave a message with your name and phone number. All other meals can be purchased by “first come, first served”. They are likely to sell out, so come early. Payment can be made at the time of the dinner with cash, check, or charge.

If you are unable to attend the dinner but would still like to help, the Lodge offers a Sponsor-A-Meal option. For a donation of $12, the Elks will gift a meal to a charity of need. Each month they carefully choose either first responders, caregivers in a designated facility, or residents in safe housing as recipients of this program.

To participate in this meal donation program, when you call the Lodge state your intention to donate a meal. They will return your call to get your details and assist you with payment options.

The Owego Elks Lodge is located at 223 Front St. in the Village of Owego. All proceeds from this dinner go to their Building Fund. Our Lodge provides an affordable place for events, meetings, dinners, and community gatherings. They have finished replacing the roofing, however extensive work must be done on the porches to make them safe for the members and the public to use.
