A golf tournament is being planned in honor of the late Tioga County Sheriff’s Office investigator, who passed away unexpectedly in March at the age of 32. The inaugural Ryan S. Bunce Memorial Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 15, 2026 at the Golf Club at Owego.

Tioga County Sheriff’s Office employees and their families are coordinating the tournament, in partnership with the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association. The organizers hope this can be an annual fundraising event.

Golf Tournament Planned in Honor of Late Tioga County InvestigatorThis year’s proceeds will benefit his young children, Everleigh and Colter, and will support the Ryan Bunce Memorial Scholarship at Spencer Van-Etten High School. Dedicated to a passionate outdoorsman, this scholarship supports student athletes who also show passion for hunting and the great outdoors.

Bunce, of Spencer, was hired by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 and promoted to Investigator in 2021. He is remembered as an exceptional law enforcement officer and a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

The tournament will include two sessions, with an anticipated 200 golfers participating. Meal tickets and raffles will also be available for non-golfers. To register, volunteer, or sponsor the tournament, please visit the event Facebook page or email RSBTournament@gmail.com.

Those wishing to support the Bunce family may also donate through GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-cassidy-everleigh-colter-bunce.

The committee extends its deepest thanks to the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association (STLEMA) for its partnership, which made this year’s tournament possible.
