Music in the Glen kicks off in Endicott; Front and Main to take the stage on Saturday

Music in the Glen kicks off in Endicott

Music in the Glen (MITG), a free community creative concert series, opened its sixth season on Tuesday, June 24 at Glendale Park, located at 400 Glendale Dr. in Endicott, with John Manfredi, a regional favorite recording artist.

This Saturday, June 28, the venue will welcome “Front and Main,” a Soul Rock band based out of the crossroads of Ithaca, Syracuse, and Binghamton, New York.

Collaborators Michael Wu and Paul Shotwell have gathered a slew of A-list musicians from across the region to bring their original compositions to life. Their songs range in influence from across the rock spectrum; ballads and upbeat rockers taking inspiration from multiple artists from classic rock to modern rock – all overlaid with Shotwell’s smoky, soulful vocals.

Paul Shotwell has worked around the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions of New York as a solo singer-songwriter, sound engineer, and stage technician. His powerful and instantly recognizable voice has become the trademark of his performances. Influenced by an array of genres, from soul to R&B to rock, Paul brings deep stories to life through his lyrics and captures audiences with vocal delivery equal to the greats of the region.

Michael Wu is a musician and bassist from Owego, residing in the Ithaca-Binghamton region of Central New York. He has accompanied artists in a wide variety of styles, from jazz to metal to hip-hop to singer-songwriter and beyond. Michael’s creative focus has always been on original music, and he has supported many regional artists as a live and studio bassist. Michael performs with the Ithaca-based hip-hop group Gunpoets and supports acts such as Diwas Gurung (solo artist), Maddy Walsh (solo artist), and R&B artist LGN. Michael has also supported multiple regional original artists such as The Blind Spots, KidBess, and Devinne Meyers.

Shows in this year’s concert series will start at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and at 4 p.m. on Saturdays (weather permitting) at Glendale Park’s Shelter 1. The venue is just 10 minutes from the Endicott exit off Rte. 17, features easy parking, shaded listening, and pristine sound. Concerts are free, with voluntary donations to help pay the musicians.

To date, MITG has presented 120 shows to more than 7,000 people. Initially, it was started by the series founder, director, and producer Rob Weinberger during the summer of 2020. His intent was to provide creative music to the community and opportunities for musicians when nearly all music venues were closed because of COVID.

Music in the Glen would like to thank the Broome County Art Council (BCAC) for its partnership and support, which includes promotion and a 2025 United Cultural Fund grant. Additional financial support comes from community members, as well as corporate and business sponsors.

Thanks also go out to BCAC, Visions, The Kitchen Counter, Music City, Nick’s, New Generation Hair Salon, Discount Auto, Precision Auto, and GoFundMe contributors for their generosity. The Town of Union Board and Parks Department has provided the use of the venue, and the organizers are appreciative of their continued support.
