The Kirby Band, of Nichols, N.Y., will begin its August concert series this Monday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. at Kirby Park in Nichols, N.Y. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concerts will continue on Monday, Aug. 14 and Monday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The concerts will run an hour in length and conclude at 8 p.m. Amanda Smith, music educator and performer by profession, is the current director of the Kirby Band.
The Kirby Band performs many genres of music including Broadway, television and the Big Screen, along with specialty tunes and the always-loved marches of noted composers, including John Phillip Sousa.
The affiliate band, “Ain’t Misbehavin”, will present the final performance of the concert series on Monday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. Guests will hear music from the Big Band era along with other popular numbers.
