Celebrated each year during the first week of August, World Breastfeeding Week aims to raise awareness of the health and wellness benefits of breastfeeding and the importance of supporting mothers to breastfeed for as long as they wish.
Tioga Opportunities, Inc’s WIC program will host two celebration events on Monday, Aug. 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tioga Opportunities, Inc. Clinic, located at 110 Central Ave. in Owego, and at the Waverly Methodist Church, located at 158 Chemung St. in Waverly.
Current breastfeeding WIC participants are invited to the drive thru events to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week and show support to local breastfeeding families. Attendees will receive a goodie bag with various breastfeeding and fun items for babies and children. Balloons will be given to children in attendance and a photo station will be available.
