Owego Rotary was recently host to a Youth Appreciation Day to recognize outstanding Tioga County High School Students. Three Rotary Scholarships were awarded, the G. Fred Beaudry Scholarship of $1,000 to Ally Fisher (OFA), the Rotary Scholarship of $1,000 to Leah O’Connell (Candor), and Interact Scholarship of $500 to Susie Hall.
Also recognized were three students awarded for Rotary Youth Leadership, and award that allows them to attend a three-day Leadership Conference. They are Kayla McLarkey of Newark Valley, Sarah Mertsen of Newark Valley, and Brandon Lavo from Owego Free Academy.
Also in attendance were members of Interact, a High School based service club sponsored by Rotary and past years’ Rotary Exchange Students, who have graduated and gone on to college.
Parents are also recognized for their contribution in raising such fine young adults.
