The Depot Friday Night series in Newark Valley continues on July 26 with a return performance of Donna and the Mystics. The Mystics are a central New York based band of talented artists bringing Country music, and a variety of other genres from the 50s and 60s to Classic Rock. They have performed throughout New York State and are members of the New York State Country Hall of Fame.
They will be performing your favorite songs from Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, along with hits like Blue Suede Shoes, Rock Around The Clock, These Boots Were Made For Walking, and many more hits you can sing along with. Friday is also the beginning of the Summerfest celebration in Newark Valley.
On Friday, Aug. 2, Casey and the DixieKats return to the Depot for what promises to be a high energy performance of traditional Dixieland and Bayou Gumbo music along harmonious songs made famous by Louie Armstrong, Pete Fountain and King Oliver, among others. Casey Max is the featured singer with the DixieKats and his vocals will bring the crowd to their feet. The DixieKats is a long established band that has played throughout New York State; and not only do they play excellent music, but their interaction with the audience makes for a fun filled evening.
Tom Quigley brings his band, the Triton Trio, to the Depot on Aug. 9 for an evening of traditional Bluegrass music along with popular songs in the bluegrass / newgrass style along with a bit of swing, blues and early jazz. The Triton Trio hales from the rolling hills of Central New York and has been pumping out bluegrass for several years. Their repertoire runs far and wide featuring music from such greats as JD Crowe, Merle Haggard, Pink Floyd and Emmy Lou. Sit back and enjoy listening to an evening filled with the delightful sounds coming from the Triton Trio.
The Depot opens at 6 p.m. and entertainment begins at 7 p.m., free of charge. Refreshments are available.
