Tioga County and Candor artist and community leader Roger Westgate is being honored on Friday, April 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Carol’s Art and Coffee Bar in Owego. April 26 is also being declared Roger Westgate Day in Tioga County.

Roger has been a woodcarving artist for more than 40 years and has made major contributions to Tioga County through teaching, instruction, presenting and donating his wood carving art. He has also served the community in various roles as school board member, contributor to the Tioga County Historical Society’s O Tannenbaum annual display and auction, and served on the Board of Directors at Tioga County Rural Ministry.
