Traffic delays anticipated for Monday’s funeral for Dennis ‘Matt’ Howe

The Tioga County Sheriff’s office has notified the public to expect traffic delays in the Village of Owego on Monday, and during services for Dennis “Matt” Howe, who died from injuries sustained when a tractor-trailer collided with a DOT truck in a work zone on March 13 in Nichols, N.Y.

The Sheriff’s office has also announced that Main Street, from Church Street to John Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday due to funeral services.

Services for Howe are planned for Monday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Owego, 261 Main St. Owego with the Rev. Jamie Stevens, officiating. The procession will follow, and travel down Main Street to John Street to Front Street, and return down Front Street to John Street to Main Street. The procession will also travel on Route 17.

The public is encouraged to honor the procession from the sidewalks. Officials are asking people to not stand in the road.

The family will also receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
