In a recent email, Animal Adventure Park announced that April the Giraffe, the world’s most famous giraffe mom, will soon welcome her fifth calf.
Animal Adventure Park, the upstate New York facility that April calls home, announced Friday that April is in the late stages of her pregnancy. April’s behavioral and physical changes are suggesting she is very much moving towards having a calf in the coming weeks.
April’s latest calf was originally expected in late March, a prediction made based on keeper observations. However, park officials now think she may be ahead of schedule. Wax caps have been present, and mammary development has begun. Viewers of the park’s Giraffe Cam can clearly see each kick and movement of the unborn calf.
