On Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., author C.W. Briar will be at Riverow Bookshop in Owego to discuss his latest release, Whispers From The Depths. Briar, a life-long resident of the Southern Tier and graduate of Tioga Central High School and Binghamton University, writes fantasy stories that are dark but hopeful.
Whispers From The Depths is a novel with Viking influences and deadly water spirits. Betka, a “whisperer”, was enslaved because of her power to control water. She wants freedom, or even revenge against her captor, but she’ll have to work with her enemies if she wants any hope of surviving the nightmares that await.
Publishers Weekly awarded Whispers From The Depths a Starred Review and called it a “captivating debut” that will “leave readers eager for more from Briar”.
