Community dinner and movie tonight at the First Presbyterian Union Church

On Saturday, Feb. 23, there will be a community pizza dinner at 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church, located at the corner of North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego. The dinner will be followed by a 5:30 p.m. free movie showing of The Hundred-Foot Journey  on the big screen in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

The public is invited to this wonderful time of good food and a comedy-romance movie.

The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Academy Award winner Helen Mirren (Best Actress, The Queen), produced by Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake, and directed by Lasse Hallstrom (Chocolat), this uplifting story bursts with flavor, passion and heart.

When the chilly chef proprietress of a Michelin-starred French restaurant in southern France (Mirren) gets wind of a culinary immigrant opening an Indian restaurant just 100 feet from her own, her icy protests escalate to all-out war between the two establishments.

It’s a celebration of triumph over exile as these two worlds collide and one young man tries to find the comfort of home in every pot-wherever he may be.
