Candor prepares for St. Baldrick’s event and 5K

This spring, Candor EMS and the American Legion Auxiliary will once again host the St. Baldrick’s Shave-a-Thon and 5K run/walk to raise money for childhood cancer research. The event takes place on Sunday, March 31 at the Candor Elementary School.

To get the ball rolling, the team is participating in the community Indoor Yard Sale at Candor High School on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The team is accepting items in good, sellable condition but no TVs or computer equipment. If you have items to donate, please drop them off at the high school on Friday, March 1 between 4:15 and 5:30 p.m.

The St. Baldrick’s team will also be holding a Can and Bottle drive from the end of February through the end of March. Look for drop-off wagons at the Hi-Way Dairy bar and also at Iron Kettle Farm.

There are other ways to participate as well. Sign up to be a shavee. Register for the 5K event. And think about becoming a sponsor. The St. Baldrick’s organizers are seeking business and individual sponsors who, in return, gain fame on the back of the 5K T-shirt. They are also seeking donations of gift basket donations, raffle items, and food for the concession stand.

For more information about the yard sale or sponsorship, contact Kelly at (607) 972-4395 or krstarkwe@gmail.com, or contact Joan Bartlett at jeb13@cornell.edu. And remember to check the Candor St. Baldrick’s page at www.stbaldricks.org/events/candor2019.
