AARP Tax-Aide tax preparation assistance in Tioga County will begin on Feb. 5 and continue through April 15, 2019. All Tioga County locations are by appointment only.
Locations include the following:
Newark Valley, United Church of Christ, 34 S. Main St., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, or by appointment by calling (607) 308-1503.
Owego, Coburn Free Library, 275 Main St., Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., or by appointment by calling (607) 687-3520.
Owego, Countryside Community Center, Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or by appointment by calling (607) 687-4120.
Waverly, Free Library, 18 Elizabeth Square, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by appointment by calling (607) 565-9341.
The following is a list of items you should bring when you visit an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site for them to help you prepare your tax return(s): Previous year’s tax return(s); Social Security cards and/or ITIN notices/cards or other official documentation that show the taxpayer identification numbers for every individual on your return; Government-issued photo ID for each taxpayer; Checking or savings account information if you want to direct deposit any refund(s) or direct debit any amounts due; and Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) (for each individual if applicable).

Due to the lack of volunteers, the Apalachin Library has been closed for this season. Anyone interested in helping with the program can indicate their interest at the same website, https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/. The minimum commitment is about six hours a week from February through mid April in addition to some training time.
Any news on when AARP will be starting up tax preparations? Will there be an appointment sign-up started?
