The Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, Inc. has launched its 2019 student scholarships in New York high schools in Owego, Candor, Tioga Center, Newark Valley Binghamton, Morris, Herkimer, and Cooperstown.

It is pleased to be offering new scholarships for graduating seniors at Candor High School, Owego Free Academy, Newark Valley High School and Tioga Central High School. 

The new Roger Westgate Family Creative Arts Scholarship honoring Candor educator, community leader and wood carving artist, Roger Westgate, is a $500 educational award to a graduating senior who demonstrates creative arts promise and potential.

The new Halliday-Eaton Family STEM Scholarship honors the Eaton and Halliday families for their contributions in community service and the fields of math, science, engineering and technology. The $ 500 educational award will be presented to a student who demonstrates promise and potential in these fields. 

The new Colleen and David Dewey-Wright Family Theater Arts Scholarship honors the Dewey-Wright family’s contributions to the theater arts programs at Owego Free Academy and a student will receive a $500 educational award for demonstrating promise and potential in the area of theater arts.

The Eudora and Fred Shuler Family Scholarship will be offered for the first time at Tioga Central High School and will honor the community contributions of the Shuler Family and recognize a student who demonstrates promise and potential in the areas of health, nursing and medical science. 

A total of 15 scholarships will be presented at schools and in the community in May by the Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation as it celebrates its 25th anniversary of positive community youth development.
